Brookland-Cayce gets another opportunity to make history Friday night.

“I’m looking forward to it,” said BC Head Coach Rusty Charpia.

The Bearcats’ 42-21 win over Georgetown last Friday in the 3A State Playoffs gave the team 11 wins for the first time ever.

With a win at Bluffton Friday BC, the Region 5, 3A champion, would improve to 12-1. But it won’t be easy.

“They are good everywhere,” said Charpia of No. 1 seed Bluffton.

The Bobcats are 12-0 and were Region 8 champions. Brookland-Cayce, also a No. 1 seed in its region, defeated No. 4 seed Battery Creek, 42-7, from Region 8 in the state playoffs on Nov. 18.

Charpia said he expects to see multiple formations when the Bobcats are on offense. He is a friend of Bluffton Coach Ken Cribb, and he is familiar with the offensive scheme. He also said Bluffton runs a no-huddle attack.

The Bearcats have been playing well on offense and defense, winning by double digits in the last eight games. No team, other than Gilbert, has come within 20 points of BC since a 20-17 loss at Chapin on Sept. 16. And the Bearcats defeated Region 5 runner-up Gilbert 35-18. Charpia said his team will keep doing the same things versus Bluffton.

“We won’t make any big changes,” he said, “but we may add a new wrinkle.”

Charpia also said his team should have all of its players ready to go.

“We’re very fortunate to be healthy,” he said. “I expect a good game.”
