Brookland-Cayce defeats Dreher in the high school baseball playoffs

Brookland-Cayce exploded in the fifth inning Thursday night at home and took an 8-1 win over Dreher in the Lower State baseball playoffs. With the win, Brookland-Cayce will host the winner of the Beaufort-Hanahan game on Saturday. 

Ty Marshall and Jackson Thomas had singles for BC in the bottom of the fifth and Jaxon Corley loaded the bases on a bunt. Then Tanner Station, Parker Mergo, and BJ Etheridge, each, singled to put BC up, 3-1. 

Dreher changed pitchers and Robert McMillan and Hayden Thomas singled to put the Bearcats up, 5-1. BC scored another run on a passed ball to make it 6-1. Jordan Gibbs then drew a walk to load the bases again. A Jackson Thomas single scored two more runs and the Bearcats were up 8-1.

Dreher didn’t get a hit off of Brookland-Cayce starting, and winning, pitcher Hayden Thomas until the fifth. He struck out nine batters.

The Blue Devils recorded two singles after a walk and took a 1-0 lead in the top of the frame. After Jacob Muir walked, Sheldon Coffman Singled.  Then Matt Moore singled to drive Muir home and the Blue Devils were up 1-0.  
It was the third time this season BC has defeated Dreher. Both schools are in 3A , Region 5. The game was played at BC.
