Bomb threat closes West Columbia Walmart, briefly

There was a bomb threat made to the West Columbia Walmart, before 9 p.m., Sunday.

The threat that there were explosives in the store on Augusta Road, resulted in the closing of the store briefly after the threat was called in.

The building was cleared of customers while personnel from the West Columbia Police and the West Columbia Fire Departments checked the building, Said Capt. Scott Morrison of the West Columbia Police Department. Vehicle entrances to the store were blocked and access was prohibited until the store was checked out.

By 9 p.m the store was opened back up to customers. The incident is under investigation.
