Body of Lake Murray drowning victim recovered

Dive teams found the body of a drowning victim in Lake Murray Monday afternoon, according to Sgt. Rhett Bickley of the A S.C. Department of Natural Resources.

Bickley said the body was recovered around 5 p.m. in about 45 feet of water.He also said some new information from previously unused witnesses allowed the search team to look in a different area. The new information was key to recovering the body.

On Sunday the victim was described as a male, age 40. The victim has not been identified yet by Richalnd County Coroner Gary Watts. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
