Body of Faye Marie Swetlik found, male body found, too
Byron Snellgrove, director of the Cayce Department of Public Safety announced at an impromptu afternoon press conference, Thursday, that the body of Faye Marie Swetlik has been found.
Also, a deceased male has been found in the Churchill Heights neighborhood. Snellgrove made the announcement of both bodies being found, and then said he would not take questions.
Capt. Adam Myrick of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, via Twitter, said” “Snellgrove says a deceased male was also found near Faye’s body. That investigation is in its early stages.”
Snellgrove said no arrests have been made, but there is no threat related to Faye’s case.
Faye, a first-grader at Springdale Elementary school, was reported as missing by her family around 5 p.m. Monday after getting off of the school bus near her home in Churchill Heights, in Cayce. That’s off of Hwy. 302.
Before the 1 p.m. press conference, Thursday, law enforcement investigators accompanied garbage collection crews and searched as they emptied trash receptacles. Around noon Thursday the pressence of police increased and cars were being turned away from entering. Back entrances were closed, too.
As the search for Faye intensified, the FBI, SLED and law enforcement personnel was called in from several municipalities, with K9 teams and the Lexington and Richaland sheriff’s departments.
