Black Rooster transitioning to Italian cuisine in 2024

Black Rooster, the French Bistro fare restaurant at the corner of Alexander Road and Meeting Street, in the Brookland complex, is transitioning to Italian cuisine in 2024. The change was announced in a Facebook post. Black Rooster Chef/Owner Kristian Niemi said he is eager to get back to an Italian cuisine restaurant. The announcement comes after Al Loftis, owner of Al’s Upstairs on Meeting Street announced his Italian cuisine restaurant would close at the end of 2023.

The proverbial cat is out of the bag! As Free Times announced in an article this morning, Black Rooster will transition to Italian in 2024! We are SUPER excited to announce this, as Chef/Owner Kristian Niemi has lamented the loss of his beloved Rosso Trattoria ever since he sold it and has been dying to get back to Italian cuisine. In the final weeks of December, we will be running specials on all of our French wines as we prepare for a new era in Black Rooster’s life! Look for Italian specials as Chef Josh Wilson, Kristian, and the rest of the culinary team work on new dishes for the new year! Buon appetito!
