If you’re outside, especially near a wooded area or places where there is water, look out for snakes. There are venomous snakes in the West Columbia area and in all of Lexington County.

The snake pictured is a young, brightly-colored, copperhead. It was killed by a car running over it on Botanical Parkway in West Columbia. It is a venomous snake.
