BCHS Junior Megan Duncan earns Platinum at national dance competition

Brookland Cayce High School Junior Megan Duncan has earned a Platinum Award in the Platinum National Dance competition.

Duncan was awarded for her solo to the song “Lost Boys.” The competition was held earlier this month, at Lexington High School. Megan competed in the Recreational Contemporary Division.

She also placed third overall in the Recreational Division.

Jenna Oliver, of Busbee Creative Arts is Megan’s dance instructor. “She works so hard and is very dedicated to perfection,” Oliver said.

Though the school year is almost over, Megan will continue to learn. She will attend several dance classes this summer. Megan will also attend “No Limits Dance Academy” in Monroe N.C. Classes at the school are conducted by Amanda Carter, a renowned instructor with her own TV reality show.

In addition to No Limits, Megan will attend Coker College in Hartsville for the Summer Dance Academy. It is rated as one of the best in the country.

Megan will be recognized at the May 19, Lexington 2 School District Board Meeting for her accomplishments.

Megan plans on attending college to Major in Dance with a Minor in Business Administration. Megan’s parents are Jerry and Samantha Smith.
