Batesburg man gets 8 years for hit-and-run

A Batesburg man has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for a hit and run collision involving a great KNEECE-3210200217272016bodily injury.

Judge Frank R. Addy Jr., imposed the sentence on Clayton Dell Kneece, 34. On the evening of February 5, 2016, a pickup truck struck pedestrian, William Barnes, 45, of Leesville, on Ben Franklin Road in the Leesville area of Lexington County.

Witnesses reported that the truck fled the scene leaving Barnes lying in the roadway. Barnes suffered a punctured lung and numerous broken ribs. Kneece was identified as the driver through statements of witnesses and an extensive investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Kneece was arrested the evening of February 7. Assistant Solicitor Todd Wagoner prosecuted the case.
