A Back-To-School Drive, collecting for families who could not afford school supplies was held by  SERVPRO Cayce/ West Columbia/ Lexington.

The Back To School supplies that were collected were distributed last Saturday (Aug 6) at Church of Christ on Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia. More than 150 backpacks filled with the school supplies that were handed out to families.

“It is amazing how many businesses in our community that helped make this Back To School Drive successful ” said Taylor Williams, owner of the local SERVPRO, a  cleanup and restoration company.

“Friday when all of the bins were collected from the three drop off locations– The Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce called wanting to know if we had enough supplies. We were still short from our goal of filling 150 backpacks with school supplies and they literally came to the rescue, went shopping for everything we needed and got it to us” said Denea Laurier, Marketing Director of the local SERVPRO.

SERVPRO hopes to make this Back To School Drive an annual event and has a goal of filling 300 backpacks next year.

“Everyday we deal with families that lose everything from some sort of a disaster, so it is nice to deal with families for more of a positive occasion” said Mr. Williams.
