Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identification of the person found deceased in a public bathroom at the Belk Store located in the Columbiana Center in Columbia (which is located in Lexington County.) She was found on Monday.

According to Fisher, Ms. Bessie Durham, 63, of Columbia was found deceased shortly after 8 p.m. by a store employee in a public bathroom located inside the Belk store. Ms. Durham was last seen alive on store surveillance cameras entering the bathroom area on Thursday, September 15, at approximately 07 a.m. She was not seen exiting that area again.

An autopsy for Ms. Durham is scheduled for September 22, at MUSC in Charleston. At this time, foul play is not suspected.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate this incident.
