Autopsy inconclusive for cause of death for man found in the Saluda River

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the preliminary autopsy findings of William John Leeman, 43, of Gaston. It was believed Leeman drowned in the Saluda River near the Riverbanks Zoo on Sunday.

But according to Fisher, the preliminary autopsy findings were unable to confirm that Leeman’s death was the result of drowning. Therefore, additional studies, including toxicology testing, are being conducted. The case remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
