Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the name and autopsy results of the person who
died as a result of a gunshot wound that occurred during an incident that took place shortly after
midnight on July 7, in the 1400 block of Samaria Hwy in the Batesburg area of Lexington County.

Fisher states that Mr. William Mark Bedenbaugh, 56, of Batesburg was at the incident location
when he was shot by another man once in the upper left chest. Mr. Bedenbaugh died on the scene.
A forensic autopsy was performed at MUSC in Charleston on July 11, 2023. Autopsy results confirmed
cause of death as a single gunshot wound to the chest.
