Armed law enforcement personnel working the scene near Quail Hollow subdivision
Ephrata Drive, heading east, at Pine Lake Drive in the Quail Hollow subdivision, West Columbia, was blocked off by police Friday after 12 noon.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department reported that multiple agencies were in the area of Feather Run Trail and Quail Hollow after responding to a mental health call involving a gun. The 911 caller reported the mental health patient was threatening to shoot family members and himself. There is no active threat to the community, said the LCSD.
Several law enforcement vehicles lined the shoulder of Ephrata Drive near the entrance to Quail Hollow Apartments. SWAT unit members were urgently moving drivers out of the area.
An EMS vehicle arrived at the scene around 12:50 p.m.
Vehicles were not allowed to travel down Ephrata Drive east of the traffic circle in front of Quail Hollow.
