“ALL CLEAR” issued Thursday afternoon after a hazardous materials situation Thursday morning, was dealt with in Cayce.

1:00 PM Update:
Cayce Residents: Residents that were evacuated near Poplar Street can return home. If you need assistance, please call 803-794-0456. The evacuation notice has been lifted and it is safe to return home. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Your safety is our priority always.
Today’s Timeline:
6:52 AM – City of Cayce dispatch received the emergency call.
7:00 AM – All Cayce emergency units were on scene.
7:30 AM – Cayce Police and Fire began going door-to-door to each resident and business within a ¼ mile of 627 Poplar Street.
11:15 AM – A 3rd party clean up company arrived at 627 Poplar Street to unload the chemical products from the tanker truck; a medical team and a tactical team was on standby.
12 Noon – Roads began reopening around the perimeter.
1:00 PM – All Clear notification issued for residents to return home safely.
Brookland-Cayce High School
A temporary Hold response protocol was lifted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brookland-Cayce High School, following an off-campus hazardous materials situation this morning at Crystal Clean on Poplar Street in Cayce. The Hold was lifted following an all-clear from city and agency officials.
Normal school day operations on the campus have resumed. All after-school activities and programs this afternoon on the Brookland-Cayce campus will go on as scheduled.
Brookland-Cayce students who had remained at the Lexington Two Innovation Center for a time after their morning classes also were able to return to the Brookland-Cayce campus.
