Airport students work to raise thousands for Camp Kemo

Linden Thomas, middle, was crowned Mr. Eagle 2017 over the weekend. The Mr. Eagle pageant raised $2,400 for Camp Kemo.

Airport High School students are some of the most- giving.

The school is in the middle of a charity drive to raise money for Camp Kemo. Camp Kemo allows children battling cancer and blood disorders to put away their worries for a week of fun in the summer. All of the money (100%) raised by the students from Feb. 23-through- March 5, will go directly to Camp Kemo.

Airport students have raised more than $50,000 a year for Camp Kemo. They want 2017 to be another record year. The school collected more than 6,700 food items to give to families over the Christmas Tax_boy_300x300_maximize_wmetrobreak. That was a record. That same effort is being implemented now.
“We are doing a variety of fundraising events throughout the week,” said Daniel Bailey, Student Activities Director. “We hosted our annual male beauty pageant Saturday and it raised over $2400 for Camp Kemo.” Linden Thomas was crowned Mr. Eagle 2017.

Some of the events included are The Send-A-Pig campaign featuring Hamlet the pig. A yard sale, a 5K run/walk and Spirit Nights at selected restaurants are other ways the school is raising money for Camp Kemo. Click on AHS calendar image below to enlarge.
