Airport Junior Carlee Vella will throw out the first pitch at the Columbia Fireflies game Friday evening (April 15.)

Carlee won an essay contest through The Arc of the Midlands. As a part of the recognition for winning the essay contest, she was selected to throw out the first pitch at the game. Carlee was surprised with the Fireflies tickets Monday evening at the Airport High School varsity baseball game.

The Arc of the Midlands and The Columbia Fireflies sponsored an essay contest. The theme for the essay was “What Makes you Glow?” Carlee, the selected winner of the contest, will throw out the first pitch of the game at the new Spirit Communications Park at the Columbia Fireflies game this Friday night, April 15th. Carlee’s entry was one of many from a pool of entries from schools across the Midlands. Doug Finkelstein – the Director of Business Development of The Arc of the Midlands presented Carlee with tickets and prize information.
