Airport JROTC Drill Team Wins 4th Competition

Airport High School in Cayce is accustom to hearing on Monday mornings the news that the school’s JROTC Drill Team finished 1st Place Overall or they brought home another Championship. The award winning Drill Team won their fourth Drill meet championship for the 2015/16 school year this past Saturday. The AHS JROTC Drill Team is under the command of CSM Harry S. Ferguson. This past spring, Airport High School administration and faculty chose CSM Ferguson as their 2015/16 Teacher of the Year.

 

This past Saturday, Nov. 21, the Airport High School JROTC Drill Team competed against 14 Army JROTC High Schools from across the Midlands winning their 12th consecutive League Championship at Blythewood High School placing: 1st Place Squad Exhibition w Arms,1st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms,1st Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms,1st Place Individual Exhibition w/Arms,1st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms,1st Place Duet Exhibition w/Arms,1st Place Squad Regulation w/Arms,1st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 2nd Place Squad Regulation w/Arms, 2nd Place Platoon Inspection, 2nd Place Color Guard,  and 3rd Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms.

 

The AHS JROTC Drill Team competed in the 4th Brigade Best of the Best South Carolina North West Drill meet on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at J. L. Mann High School placing: 1st Place Overall,1st Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms, 1st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 1st Place Squad Exhibition w Arms,1st Place Color Guard, 1st Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms,1st Place Platoon Inspection w/Arms,1st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms,1st Place Individual Exhibition w/Arms,1st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms, 2nd Place Squad Regulation w/Arms, and 2nd Place Dual Exhibition w/o Arms.

On October 31, the Drill Team competed against twenty other schools from across the midlands in The 2015 Greater Midlands Area Drill meet at Lugoff Elgin High School placing: 1st Place Overall, 1st Place Color Guard, 1st Place Duo Exhibition w/Arms, 1st Place Solo Exhibition w/Arms, 1st Place Squad Exhibition w/Arms, 1st Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms, 1st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 1st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms, 1st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms, 2nd Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms, 3rd Place Squad Regulation w/o Arms, and 4th Place Squad Regulation w/ Arms.

The AHS JROTC Drill Team opened their 2015/16 competitive season at The Citadel on October 24. The Team competed against the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines from across the state in the Annual Citadel Bulldog Drill meet placing: 1st Place Overall, 1st Place regulation Platoon w/Arms, 1st Place Exhibiiton Platoon w/o Arms, 1st Place Exhibition Duet w/Arms, 1st Place Exhibition Squad w/Arms, 1st Place Exhibiiton w/Arms, 1st Place Exhibition Squad w/o Arms, 2nd Place Regulation Platoon w/o Arms, 2nd Place Freshman Squad w/o Arms, 2nd Place Regulation Squad w/o Arms, 2rd Place Exhibition Platoon w/arms, 3rdPlace Regulation Individual w/Arms, and 3rd Place Color Guard.
