Airport High School’s Jayla Jamison, Swansea’s Danae McNeal awarded
Airport High School’s Jayla Jamison was named Class 4A Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Jamison was among 21 recognized Sunday by the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports.
For the second consecutive year, Jamison, who just finsihed her fresman year at Airport, won the Class 4A award. She scored four gold medals in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and long jump, in state competition.
Swansea High School’s Danae McNeal was named Class 4A Basketball Player of the Year.
McNeal is committed to Clemson University. She is a guard/forward and averaged 24.5 points, 12.6 rebounds and 4.7 steals per game this season for the Region 5-3A champion Lady Tigers.
McNeal has also been named state Player of the Year by USA Today and Gatorade. She earned a third consecutive Class 3A Player of the Year honor from the S.C. Basketball Coaches Association and was Lexington Chronicle Co-Player of the Year.
The students received plaques during an annual banquet at the S.C. High School League office.
