hosting North Augusta. But those high school football games won’t happen Friday. There have been postponed until Nov. 4, thanks to Hurricane Matthew.

The South Carolina High School League announced this week that the high school football season will be extended one week to allow this week’s postponed games to be played at the end of the season.The Gilbert and Airport games will be played Nov. 4.

Volleyball and girls tennis events that have been affected by postponements will also be made up. The state playoffs in those sports will begin on Oct. 20 and all regular-season contests must be completed by Oct. 18. There are no schedule changes in girls golf, competitive cheer or cross country.

The regular season in football was scheduled to end Oct. 28. Games postponed this week will now be played Nov. 4. The state playoffs will start on Nov. 11. The state championship games have been moved to Dec. 10-11 in Columbia.
