Agreement reached to allow for Wilton Road Dam repairs, according to Rep. Micah Caskey email

Wilton Road has been closed after a 2015 dam breach caused a wash out.

Springdale Mayor Michael Bishop said in an email Sunday that an agreement has been reached that will allow to the repair of Wilton Road. Bishop said he got the email from S.C. House Rep. Micah Caskey. Below is a copy of the email Bishop sent.

Message from House of Rep. Micah Caskey:

Great news: SCDOT tells me that the agency and the Wilton Road dam owner **finally** have a signed legal agreement that will allow repairs to proceed! This whole process has been held up on legal issues and the agreement (at long last!) resolves these.

There is still a ways to go. SCDOT has to finish the design process, then bid out the construction, and then do the actual construction. But, this agreement allows SCDOT to get through the legal barriers that had been stopping them.

It’s too early to say when the dam will be reopened, and we all agree that it should have been reopened years ago, but this development is the most important step we’ve had since it all started.

When I know more information, I will certainly share it.

-Micah
