A taste of normal – Cayce Riverwalk is open

Normal never felt so good.

Despite the coronavirus crisis, all four phases of the Cayce Riverwalk, and the Timmerman Trail, are open.

On Monday, dogs with their owners trotted down the trail. Runners and cyclists were also out enjoying a beautiful sunny day on the Congaree River. Some just walked.

A rabbit, practicing social distancing, hopped by and what looked to be a bald eagle – or was it an osprey – dove and grabbed a fish from the river, then flew off to feast. Cayce Spokeswoman Ashley Hunter confirmed that bald eagles have been sighted on the Cayce Riverwalk.

While the trail was open, the shelters, with tables in them, were closed with a sign from the city that discouraged use.
