First reading of West Columbia budget passes
The West Columbia City Council passed first reading of a $16.4 million budget for Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Tuesday.
The budget is $16,410,000. There is no tax increase for city residents in the budget and it uses no reserve funds, said City Administrator Brian Carter.
In the budget city workers will get a 2 percent cost of living increase and a 3 percent merit-based increase. Carter said the budget also funds the new position of administrative assistant.
Council also passed a $18 million budget to fund water and sewer services.
