Adults passed out in car, police say, toddlers running around in parking lot

Springdale Police Department arrested two adults last week after responding to a call at the Raceway gas station on Airport Boulevard. Upon arriving, officers found the adults passed out in a car while their toddlers were playing in the parking lot, according to an Springdale Police report.

Both adults were under the influence: one was intoxicated from drinking alcohol and the other was under the influence of an illegal narcotic. Two children were found sleeping in the car with the adults, while the two toddlers were running around the parking lot unsupervised, according to police.

During the investigation, it was reported the officers found marijuana, heroin, an unidentified white powder believed to be cocaine, and an open can of alcohol.

The children were turned over to the Department of Social Services and the adults were arrested. Charges include possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, open container of alcohol, and unlawful conduct towards children. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. Both adults were transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
