Photos from Cayce Historical Museum’s Congaree Heritage Day
The Cayce Historical Museum held it’s Congaree Heritage Day of Unity was last Saturday.
It was a learning experience for the family that showcased Native American culture through dance, music, authentic craft demonstrations and storytelling.
Also taught was primitive skills such as flint knapping and pottery making. Another part of the day highlighted the central role of dance in native culture as Native Americans performed a traditional “Candy Dance” for children.
Congaree Heritage Day included reenactments from the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World War I, and World War II. There were also free tours of the Cayce Museum and its collection of more than 8,000 arrowhead. It is one of the largest arrowhead collections in the US.
