Brookland-Cayce, Airport resume rivalry, Friday

Two high school football teams, very familiar with each other, play Friday.
Airport hosts Brookland-Cayce in a non-conference game 7:30 pm.
It is the first of two games between the two teams. Friday’s game is not a Region 5-4A conference game, but the two teams are in the same conference. Brookland-Cayce moved up to 4A this year after a year in the classification of 3A.
In the 2017 fooball season, Airport traveled to BC for a late-August non-conference game. Brookland-Cayce jumped out to a 14 -0 lead over the Eagles. BC went into halftime with a 21-7 lead and ended up winning 42-21.
In Week Zero of the 2018 season, both Airport and Brookland-Cayce notched wins. Airport defeated Dreher by a score of 49-35 and Brookland-Cayce beat White Knoll 42-35.
In Airport’s opening-season win, Brandon Caughman threw for three touchdowns and Nanders Lawrence scored three toucdowns.
In Brookland-Cayce’s opener, quarterback Reed Charpia scored three rushing touchdowns, including the game-winner. Running back Will Way rushed for 155 yards and Jo Pradubsri caught a touchdown pass and he had six receptions for 100 yards.
As familiar as the two teams are with each other, they will play again before the end of the season. Airport will make the three-mile trip up Knox-Abbott Drive to Cayce to play Brookland-Cayce on Oct. 26. That game will be a Region 5-4A conference game.
