5 arrested for Lexington car break-ins
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green announced the arrest of four males and one juvenile male who were involed in two vehicle thefts, and several thefts from motor vehicle cases last month.
According to the department, multiple vehicles were broken into within the Reserve at Mill Landing Apartments and Cedarcrest Apartment complexes early Tuesday morning. The complexes are located on East Main Street in Lexington, and victims reported multiple items stolen including a handgun and a laptop computer.
Officers also took incident reports of two vehicles that were stolen from the parking lot of the Reserve at Mill Landing Apartments. The stolen vehicles were both recovered the next day in Columbia.
During the investigation, it was discovered the five male subjects had met at a nearby convenience store immediately after the incidents. Photographs were shared of the male subjects with a news release which resulted in numerous tips that assisted detectives with the investigation and arrest of the subjects, according to the department.
James Lamont Thomas, 17, of Hopkins, Keion Dionta Bailey, 17, of Columbia, William Cornelius Moore-Holley, 17, of Columbia, and Sir Joe La-Taludean Elijha Walker, 18, of Coumbia, and a 15-year-old juvenile, have all been charged with two counts of Theft of Motor Vehicle, two counts of Theft From Motor Vehicle, and four counts of Criminal Conspiracy.
The Lexington Police Departments wants to remind the community to always remove valuables, including car keys, from their vehicles each night and to ensure car doors are locked to help prevent auto tampering and theft.
