Coroner IDs pedestrian who died on I-20, Sunday night

A pedestrian died on I-20 Sunday night after being hit by two cars.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. and involved two collisions that happened close to mile marker 59 on I-20 East, according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The first collision took place in the westbound lanes. It involved a Honda Accord and a pickup truck.

The two vehicles were traveling west on I-20 when the Honda hit the pickup, said Southern. The driver of the Honda got out of the car and crossed the median. The driver was struck by a Hyundai and a Jeep trying to cross the eastbound lanes of I-20.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of the incident as Jared Whitman Campbell, 27, of Lexington. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries.

The  South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
