Service announced for Vanessa Biery, wife of Dr. Adam Lazzarini, toxicology report pending
Vanessa Brooke Biery, 43, of West Columbia, died Monday, April 30. She was the wife of Dr. Adam Lazzarini. After her death, Lazzarini was charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the October death of William Player Holland, who was shot at 256 Hunters Mill Dr. in Cayce. That’s the same address where Biery died. The cause of death has not been confirmed yet.
A memorial service for Biery will be held 4 p.m., July 14, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Shives Funeral Home announced the date of the service, Tuesday.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Tuesday, her office is still waiting on the final autopsy results regarding Biery’s death.
“The pathologist has not given a timeline as to when the results can be expected,” Fisher said in response to an email question. She said she hopes the results will be available soon.
Lazzarini is a hip surgeon who worked for Lexington Medical Center. But he resigned from LMC in late May. A suspension of Lazzarini’s medical license, that was imposed after he was arrested in early May, was lifted by the S.C. Board of Medical Examiners. Eric Bland, Lazzarini’s attorney, said his client is not a threat to his patients, staff or the public.
“He has a clean record and he is well-regarded,” Bland.
Lazzarini was also charged with obstructing justice in relation to the Holland shooting.
