Former Airport High School assistant principal Dawn Diimmler is in the Lexington County Detention Center. She will go before a judge for a bond hearing at 10 a.m. Monday.

Diimmler has been accused of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student. She was terminated from her job by Lexington School District Two, two-and-a-half weeks ago.

Diimmler, 44, was placed in the Lexington County Detention Center Sunday morning, according to Cayce Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Ashley Hunter. Diimmler was released from the Richland County Jail on Sunday after a bond hearing.  A judge set her bond at $30,000.  And Diimmler is not to have contact with the victim and she has to get permission to leave the state.

Diimmler, 44, faces two charges of sexual battery with a student. One of the alleged incidents is being charged by the Columbia Police Department and the Cayce Department of Public Safety has filed the other charge. She is accused of being in a relationship with a 19-year-old Airport High School student in the spring of 2017 while she was the school’s assistant principal.

The charges against Diimmler are felonies, and carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison if she is found guilty.
