At the West Columbia City Council meeting last Tuesday, the City of West Columbia will proclaimed the month of June as Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month during its City Council Meeting. A proclamation was given to Elizabeth Brantley from the Alzheimer’s Association – South Carolina Chapter by Mayor Bobby Horton.

June is nationally recognized as Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month and West Columbia presented the proclamation to raise awareness and show support for locals who have or ever will experience caring for a loved one with dementia. There are more than 300,000 caregivers supporting over 86,000 South Carolinians with this disease currently.
