Phase 1 of Cayce Riverwalk closed through April 5, for repairs
Repairs are underway on the Cayce Riverwalk.
Beginning Monday (March 27) repair work will begin in Phase 1 of the Riverwalk.
Repair work will be done from the northernmost point of Riverwalk (at the West Columbia Riverwalk entrance) south to Deliesseline Street. From March 27 through April 5, this section will be temporarily closed. This section will re-open on the weekend for access at 4 p.m. Friday, March 31 and close again on Monday, April 3. The nearest open entrance for Riverwalk access will be Naples Avenue.
Riverwalk and Timmerman Trail Repairs
Construction on the whole Riverwalk is expected to last into the upcoming months in a phased approach. The City of Cayce has contracted with AOS Specialty Contractors to perform the extensive repairs necessary along all four phases of the Riverwalk and the Timmerman Trail.
The City will perform repairs to Phases 1, 3 and 4 and the Timmerman Trail first. Repairs to Phase 2, currently closed, are the most extensive and will begin after the other sections are complete. The City has prepared a construction schedule that limits closure of the trails during repairs.
Riverwalk pedestrians and cyclists should note the following repair schedule and associated closures:
Phase 3, Phase 4 & Timmerman Trail:
These sections will remain open during repairs. Now through March 31, repairs will be made along Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the Riverwalk and also on the Timmerman Trail. Repairs are being made to multiple damaged concrete sections. The trails will remain open, but pedestrians and bicyclists should use caution: expect equipment and workers on the trail. The repair sections will be small and pedestrians will be diverted off the concrete path around the work; a temporary access trail will be available adjacent to the sidewalk. All sections under repair will be marked with an orange fence and barricades.
Phase 1:
This section will have some temporary closures during repairs.
Beginning April 5, Phase 1 will be temporarily closed from Deliesseline Street to Naples Avenue through April 14. This section will re-open on the weekend for access at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 7 and close again on Monday, April 10. During this time, the parking lot at Naples Avenue will also be closed. The nearest open entrances will be Knox Abbott Drive and Lyles Street.
As updates to the Riverwalk construction schedule become available, the City will post updates on social media and the City website.
