Nephron Pharmaceuticals is moving its headquarters from Orlando, Fla. to its Lexington County Facility, just outside of Cayce.

“South Carolina is very pro-manufacturing jobs and focused on workforce development,” Nephron President and CEO Lou Kennedy told the Orlando Business Journal when the move was announced.  “That’s good for business.”

Nephron has invested more than $330 million into its plant in the Saxe Gotha Industrial Park on 12th Street Extension.  Nephron is expected to eventually create more than 700 jobs in South Carolina. About half that many are now working at the South Carolina location.

Nephron manufactures medications to help in breathing. The company is in Lexington County, close to Cayce, but it has a West Columbia address.
