Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman who died in a single-vehicle accident on Monday. Fisher said Patricia Ann Steele, 52, of West Columbia was killed when her vehicle crossed the center line, and she over-corrected.

The accident happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Pine Street near Cedar Creek Road in Lexington County.

Steele died at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

An autopsy performed on Tuesday concluded that Steele died of massive trauma to the head and neck.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
