Sean R. Wooten, 29, of Gilbert was killed in an auto accident on Leesburg Road in Columbia Friday morning.

The accident happened at 8:35 a.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Richland County coroner Gary Watts identified Wooten as the victim, Saturday.

Wooten’s 2013 Ford Mustang was hit broadside as he turned. He was turning from Congress Road onto Leesburg Road when a 1998 Ford Taurus coming from Leesburg Road collided with Wooten’s Mustang. Wooten’s car ran off of the road to the right. It overturned into a ditch, according to the S.C. Highway patrol report.

The drivers of both cars were taken to a local hospital where Wooten died. Watts said Wooten died of blunt force trauma. The driver of the other vehicle also suffered serious injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
