Ribbon is cut on Cayce’s Riverland Park, Saturday

The City of Cayce cut the ribbon on Riverland Park Saturday.ribbionwmn

The park, on the Congaree River, was named in honor of H. Kelley Jones. Jones, is is now deceased, gave the property to the city, for the park. He was on the city’s planning commission  and an attorney, who lived in the Riverland Park neighborhood.

Cayce Mayor Elise Partin said the park offers more recreational opportunities for Cayce residents.

Cayce City Councilman James “Skip” Jenkins  represents the district of the park, and he said it allows for more fitness activity and more chance to get outside.

The park has new playground equipment, that is ADA accessible; new fencing; picnic tables: fencing: ribbion3-wmnrestrooms; shelter; city staff workroom; ADA-accessible parking lot; and an overlook for the river, said Rachelle Moody, Cayce’s special projects director and grant manager.

The city used grants from Lowe’s and CSX Railroad to build the park. A large boulder from the Martin-Marietta quarry was also donated by that company.
