Cayce’s Guignard Park to reopen Oct. 15
Guignard Park is an oasis of greenery that sits is just off of heavily traveled Knox-Abbott Drive in Cayce.
In 2015, upgrades were planned for the popular park. Last spring those improvements were started. They are almost completed.
The City of Cayce’s Guignard Park will reopen at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15, The city will hold a grand reopening ceremony on that day. The park is reopening after undergoing multiple improvements over the past 12 months.
Cayce Mayor Elise Partin will speak speaking at the ceremony. And local artists will be on the site from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. showcasing and selling their work. The Cayce Avenues Association will be grilling hot dogs for guests. There will be guided walks showcasing the improvements to the park, too.
Partin invites residents to a game on the new concrete ping-pong table.
Improvements to the park include:
· New ADA compliant sidewalks for access throughout the park
· New benches, picnic tables, and trash cans
· Reclaimed brick pavers for the entrance and various seating areas
· New retaining wall along the creek and creek stabilization
· New picnic shelter and improved existing picnic shelters
· Bicycle racks in the parking lot
· A permanent concrete Ping-Pong table
