Two arrested, juvenile in custody after string of robberies
A man and a woman have been arrested and a juvenile is in custody after three weekend robberies in
the Columbia area of Lexington County.
Wesley Alexander Anderson, 17, and Jasmine Taylor, 18, are charged with five counts of armed robbery for holding up a total of five people at three locations, according to arrest warrants.
Detectives said a 16-year-old male who was with Anderson and Taylor during the three robberies is being held by the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
“Based on what we’ve pieced together during our investigation, the three suspects robbed three people about 11:00 Friday night in the 200 block of East Meadow Court,” Lexington Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The suspects then moved to the 100 block of Executive Pointe Boulevard where we believe they robbed another person about 1:45 Saturday morning.”
Koon said the three robbery suspects allegedly tried to rob a cab driver in the 300 block of Saint Andrews Road about an hour later.
“He gave us a great description of the vehicle the suspects drove away in after they tried to rob him,” Koon said. “He also told us two males and a female were in the vehicle. With that info, a deputy quickly spotted the car and pulled the three suspects over on Woodland Hills Road.”
None of the five victims were seriously injured, according to Koon.
Anderson, a Columbia resident, and Taylor, a Gaston resident, are also charged with five counts of the possession of a weapon during a violent crime. They’re being held in the Lexington County Detention Center after a judge set their bond at $300,000 each.
“The investigation into these robberies is still open,” Koon said. “We hope anyone who has more information to share with us will call CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC.”
