Upperscale restaurant announces plans for West Columbia
A restaurant with a “stunning view” is coming to West Columbia.
A partner in Columbia’s Bourbon Whiskey Bar and Creole Kitchen is planning to open an upperscale steak restaurant in the Brookland development in West Columbia. The new venture will also offer seafood.
The restaurant is scheduled to open in the latter part of 2017, said Kristian Niemi of Bourbon Whiskey Bar, that is on Main Street in Columbia. He said the design is not complete. “We’re still developing the plans,” Niemi said.
The restaurant of about 5,500 sq.-ft. will be on the bottom floor of the office building of the multi-million-dollar Brookland development, planned for the corner of State and Meeting streets.
“We certainly welcome any high-quality restaurant to West Columbia,” said Mayor Bobby Horton. “It’s a compliment to the restaurants there.”
Niemi said the new restaurant would be at an elevation in order to optimize the view from the West Columbia Vista toward the Congaree River and the Columbia skyline. He said the view would be “stunning.”
He also described the new project as a Columbia version of D.C. Prime Steaks-Lobsters.
DC Prime is an independently owned steakhouse with fresh fish and lobster in Washington DC.
Like DC Prime, the restaurant will order meat directly from Chicago’s Consumer Meat Packing Co. In some cases fish are overnighted.
According to its website, DC Prime delivers an inspired menu, a rich atmosphere and superior service. DC Prime’s mission is to provide dining and culinary excellence to every guest. It serves only USDA Prime Beef, which is the top 1% of all beef in the United States.
