Hurricane Hermine came inland into Florida early Friday morning (about 1:30 a.m.) and it’s currently headed for South Carolina. Expect rain all day Friday, in Lexington County, with heavy rain by mid-afternoon, into the night. By Saturday, the forecast is for mostly sunny skies, with a high of 85 degrees.

Hermine has been downgraded to a tropical storm. It was weakening, moving into southern Georgia around 5 a.m. Friday.

After it moves through Georgia, Hermine will head to the Carolinas and up the East Coast. It is expected to produce heavy rain and could cause deadly flooding.

In Florida the Category 1 storm came ashore with winds around 80 mph, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center. Nearly 200,000 people across four states have been left without power. Several towns in Hermine’s path had to evacuate.

The storm caused Florida Governor Rick Scott to declare a state of emergency in 51 counties. And 6,000 National Guard members have been put on alert.
