Springdale’s Rainbow Drive bridge over I-26 to close for 2 years
The Rainbow Drive bridge, in Springdale, that crosses I-26 will be closed starting Monday, Sept. 19, according to Jeff Stilwell, Springdale Town Administrator.
The bridge is being replaced and it will take approximately 24 months to completely replace the bridge. Stillwell said the information regarding the bridge replacement schedule was provided by Robert Dickinson, SCDOT District Engineering Administrator.
The detour route while the bridge work is being done is to use Platt Springs Road and Wattling Road.
The route is the same 2.84 mile detour that currently moves traffic away from the closed road – that was damaged during the October flood- at Wilton Road.
For residents of Springdale, the bridge work will also impact the times for trash, recycling, and yard trash collections. The days of collection will remain the same, but the exact times may vary. Town sanitation department staff asks resident to have items collected by the street by 7 a.m. on the day of collection. More information will be released as it becomes available.
