West Columbia requests citizen input of Hospitality Fee, at 2 meetings
West Columbia requests citizens input of Hospitality Fee at 2 meetings.
The City of West Columbia is attaching a notice to garbage receptacles this week.
It reminds customers of two community information meetings to discuss a Hospitality fee.
The sessions are at 6 p.m. on June 8, and June 13, City Hall, 200 N. 12th St. West Columbia.
The Hospitality Fee will be studied by West Columbia officials, and planners are requesting input from citizens. The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Board of Directors requested that the city adopt a Local Option Hospitality Fee.

The funds from the fee can be used for tourism-related activities and improvements, at projects that include including parks, Riverwalk, parking, pedestrians and bicycle paths, street beautification and festivals and events.
The Hospitality Fee is assessed at 2% on prepared meals and beverages sold in restaurants, convenience stores and delicatessens. It’s not applied to groceries.
