Anna Wilbourne, Pine Ridge Middle, SWU Student Teacher-of-the-Year

Anna Wilbourne has received the Student-Teacher-of-the-Year Award from Southern Wesleyan University (SWU.)

Wilbourne is a student teacher and a long-term substitute at Pine Ridge Middle School, in the Lexington 2 School District.

The award was presented to Wilbourne, on April 25, by Susan Finley, SWU Assistant Professor of Education and Coordinator of Field Studies.

Wilbourne will teach Social Studies at Airport High School next school year. She is a 2011 graduate of Airport High School.

Wilbourne, a softball player, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies in December. She is the current JV Head Softball Coach and a Varsity Assistant at Airport High School.

“Anna has been an important part of Pine Ridge as a long-term substitute. Her dedication to her students is unmatched and she has been such an asset to our eighth-grade team,” said Daniel Bailey, Pine Ridge Middle eighth-grade social studies teacher.
