Today, at approximately 12:20 p.m. Sgt. F. Ballentine was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe patrol

vehicle on 12th Street near 13th Street.

Sgt. Ballentine stopped in the southbound lanes to yield to a train at the Norfolk Southern crossing. While stopped, waiting on the train to pass, the patrol vehicle was struck in the rear by a Honda Accord.

Sgt. Ballentine was not injured in the collision. A Public Safety dispatcher who was a passenger in the patrol vehicle did seek medical attention for minor injuries.

The collision was investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
