Voter turnout strong in Cayce-West Columbia
By 10:30 Saturday morning about 230 people had voted at the Westover Precinct at Providence Presbyterian Church in West Columbia.
A poll manager there described the turnout of voters as “heavy.” He said the prediction of a high turnout for the GOP Presidential Primary seems to be accurate. The poll manager also said there was a line of voters waiting at 6:30 a.m., 30 minutes before the polls opened.
A poll manager at the Cayce 1 Precinct, at the American Legion building, said – just before 11 a.m.- the stream of voters has been steady. She also said there was a line of voters waiting at 6:30 a.m.
There are six candidates contending for the Republican nomination for president. Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush and John Kasich.
Polls close at 7 p.m.
