County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual killed in the early morning accident that occurred in the 3900 block of 12th Street Ext.

Fisher states that at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, on the 12th Street Ext. between SCANA Highway and Saxe Gotha Road, Erica Lorraine Bass, 31, of West Columbia was riding her bicycle to her job at the Amazon Distribution Center in the southbound lane when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling in the southbound lane as well.

Bass was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision from the injuries she sustained in the accident. An autopsy was performed at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday and showed that Bass died as a result of upper body trauma. The driver of the vehicle that struck Bass was taken to an area hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.The Cayce Police Department is investigating the collision.
