West Columbia Fire Dept. hosts Chamber’s Lunch and Learn
During the Lunch and Learn event Wednesday, the West Columbia Fire Department (WCFD) presented a check to the Lexington Medical Center Foundation. The money collected by the WCFD is to go to fund the fight against breast cancer.
Lunch and Learn is a program of the Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce. It was held at the fire department on 12th Street.
WCFD Chief Wyatt Coleman talked about the modernization of the firefighting force since it was in the New Brookland Mill Village more than 100 years ago. He said the fire department was on Center Street, before moving to its present location. Those attending Wednesday got to use the “Jaws-of-Life” to pry open a car door. Some were taken to a height of 90 feet on a ladder truck.
