Jay C. Joy, age 24, of Columbia, was operating his 2006 Yamaha motorcycle with passenger, Andrea E. Barwick, age 21, of Chapin, when it collided with a black SUV.

Joy was pronounced ded at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the accident. Barwick was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.  Neither individual was wearing a helmet.The driver of the SUV was not injured.The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County  Coroner’s Office and the Irmo Police Department
