Airport High School in Cayce is accustom to hearing on Monday mornings the news that the school’s JROTC Drill Team finished 1st Place Overall or they brought home another Championship. The award winning Drill Team won their fourth Drill meet championship for the 2015/16 school year this past Saturday. The AHS JROTC Drill Team is under the command of CSM Harry S. Ferguson. This past spring, Airport High School administration and faculty chose CSM Ferguson as their 2015/16 Teacher of the Year.

This past Saturday, Nov. 21, the Airport High School JROTC Drill Team competed against 14 Army JROTC High Schools from across the Midlands winning their 12^th consecutive League Championship at Blythewood High School placing: 1^st Place Squad Exhibition w Arms,1^st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms,1^st Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms,1^st Place Individual Exhibition w/Arms,1^st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms,1^st Place Duet Exhibition w/Arms,1^st Place Squad Regulation w/Arms,1^st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 2^nd Place Squad Regulation w/Arms, 2^nd Place Platoon Inspection, 2^nd Place Color Guard,  and 3^rd Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms.

The AHS JROTC Drill Team competed in the 4^th Brigade Best of the Best South Carolina North West Drill meet on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at J. L. Mann High School placing: 1^st Place Overall,1^st Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms, 1^st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 1^st Place Squad Exhibition w Arms,1^st Place Color Guard, 1^st Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms,1^st Place Platoon Inspection w/Arms,1^st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms,1^st Place Individual Exhibition w/Arms,1^st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms, 2^nd Place Squad Regulation w/Arms, and 2^nd Place Dual Exhibition w/o Arms.

On October 31, the Drill Team competed against twenty other schools from across the midlands in The 2015 Greater Midlands Area Drill meet at Lugoff Elgin High School placing: 1^st Place Overall, 1^st Place Color Guard, 1^st Place Duo Exhibition w/Arms, 1^st Place Solo Exhibition w/Arms, 1^st Place Squad Exhibition w/Arms, 1^st Place Platoon Exhibition w/o Arms, 1^st Place Platoon Exhibition w/Arms, 1^st Place Squad Exhibition w/o Arms, 1^st Place Platoon Regulation w/o Arms, 2^nd Place Platoon Regulation w/Arms, 3^rd Place Squad Regulation w/o Arms, and 4^th Place Squad Regulation w/ Arms.

The AHS JROTC Drill Team opened their 2015/16 competitive season at The Citadel on October 24. The Team competed against the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines from across the state in the Annual Citadel Bulldog Drill meet placing: 1^st Place Overall, 1^st Place regulation Platoon w/Arms, 1^st Place Exhibiiton Platoon w/o Arms, 1^st Place Exhibition Duet w/Arms, 1^st Place Exhibition Squad w/Arms, 1^st Place Exhibiiton w/Arms, 1^st Place Exhibition Squad w/o Arms, 2^nd Place Regulation Platoon w/o Arms, 2^nd Place Freshman Squad w/o Arms, 2^nd Place Regulation Squad w/o Arms, 2rd Place Exhibition Platoon w/arms, 3^rdPlace Regulation Individual w/Arms, and 3^rd Place Color Guard.
