The cost for intersection work at Knox-Abbott Drive and Charleston Highway is $789,000. Cayce City Council discussed the project at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

A Walmart Neighborhood Market is being built at the intersection that is beside Love Mitsubishi. Construction has already started on the site.

The City will get $300,000 via Lexington County C-funds that come from the state’s gas tax, said City Manager Rebecca Vance.

The intersection is a state road, and Cayce will not pay for any of the upgrade there. The work includes mast signal lights, sidewalks and grading and paving improvements.

DPS Corp. was the lowest – and only – bidder at $89,000 to do some off-site work on the project. The work had to be given to a S.C. Department of Transportation qualified company.

That bid will be accepted pending DOT approval.
